Inclusive Curricula Development in Genomics and STEM
An Ongoing Project
Why is this needed?
For too long, individuals who have experienced oppression in STEM have not been included in decision making regarding research and teaching in genomics. Additionally, the history of genomics and how the field has benefitted from the exploitation of BIPOC communities is often not highlighted in higher education.
As I develop resources and create workshops, materials regarding this curricula will be included here. Individuals across the undergraduate, graduate and early career scientist may find these resources helpful. Many of these materials are intended to be for BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+ community members, and for those who have been marginalized and have experienced oppression in STEM and genomics as they navigate spaces in STEM. Some examples of materials I am developing include:
